Worldwide terror alert and Travel Warning

Some countries has realeased travel warning for their citizen abroad. Some because of terror alert, others are because of volcano activity and crime. Chicagotribune reported on January 9, some countries are US, South Africa, Russia, and India.

Worldwide terror alert

The updated a worldwide travel warning for Americans Jan 9 was from The U.S. State Department.It says because of the terrorist attack at the Charlie Hebdo headquarters in Paris. The conflict and attacks from terrorist groups was considered rising in days. And the warning indicated that the likelihood of another attack in Europe is a particular concern. The list of areas where tourists should use added caution are North Africa, South Asia and the Middle East.

Tourists visiting South Africa during its peak travel season are warned it should be aware of potential power blackouts. Particularly it is in the Johannesburg area that may continue until March. Energy officials cited outdated power plants using coal for a decrease in energy production. Blackouts, or "load shedding," can be continue until March.

Other, Russia has the Shiveluch Volcano in the country's far-eastern Kamchatka region that began spewing ash nearly 4 miles into the sky Jan 11. This volcanic activity prompted an alert. It is indicating that air travel in the region may be disrupted if activity continued.

From United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi police are urging tourists to carry less cash and to use credit cards instead. This is as an effort to curb crime across the city. The chief of tourism police gives this kind of advice and advised visitors to be careful with money at popular tourist attractions and during holiday travel.

From India, the most popular alarming comes from the reports of sexual assaults against tourists. It has led the country's Tourism Ministry to create an in-country help line, especially for travelers that looking for help to file complaints. This kind of service is available in Hindi and English and will eventually be available in at least 10 other languages. The Tourism Ministry has planned to launch a program in which visitors will be given emergency numbers upon entry to the country.
