Welcoming New International Airport - Travel to The Jewel of Java Indonesia

Such a good news comes from Indonesia, especially from the west of Yogyakarta. New International Airport will be built in this special regency. The central Indonesian government indicated the new airport for the Yogyakarta Special Region will be located in the Kulonprogo Regency.

This plan could be a great chance for many travelers in the world who like to travel and have holiday in Yogyakarta. Welcome by the new place, named Kulonprogo as the west gate of the Yogyakarta, your trip will be so different from the previous journey.

The new airport is expected will be built with a 3,250 metre runway with 45 meters width and dual linear terminals, reported on Wikipedia. It is to serve as an international gateway. The initial plan is to provide facilities to serve up to 10 million passengers per year for 28 aircraft together.

This new airport might accommodate up to 20 million passengers per year in phase-3. Now, in process that around 637 hectares of land is being set aside to built the new airport. The location is known of this, 40% is classified as "Paku Alam land while the rest of thosw belongs to local communities.

The new airport's location is in Temon District between Congot Beach and Glagah Beach, covers at least 5 villages. Some of them are Palihan village, Sindutan village, Jangkaran village and Glagah village.

Kulonprogo Regency is one of the four regencies within the Yogyakarta Special Region, Indonesia. With its motto "Binangun", Kulonprogo whom regent is dr H Hasto Wardoyo SpOG(K) considered has total population 404,155, with the density 690/km2 (1,800/sq mi).

This region is located to the west of the Progo River. With its capital named as Wates, there are the greatest part of the population of the regency working as farmers. Its interesting that this regency is surrounded by the Menoreh Hills. Inside, Kulonprogo has area of the regency is 586.27 km², with population 404,155 based on early 2014.

Kulonprogo consists of 12 districts. They are Temon, Wates, Panjatan, Galur, Lendah, Pengasih, Kokap, Girimulyo, Nanggulan, Kalibawang, and Samigaluh.

There is Sermo Dam in Kulon Progo Regency considered as the best dam in water quality among dams in Indonesia, with minimal sedimentation. This reservoir formed by the dam is 21.3 square kilometres with 21.9 million cubic metres of reservoir. The dam functioning for 7,152 hectares irrigation, 150 litres/second of water treatment and 50 litres/second for cleaning of Wates City drainage.
